Haridwar is nestled at the foothills of the Shivaliks and serves as the gateway to God's worlds. This sacred village beside the powerful River Ganga is a virtual delight as well as therapy for your weary hearts, having been named one of the seven holiest cities according to Hindu faith. According to mythology, the great Suryavanshi Prince Bhagirath underwent penance in order to save the souls of his forefathers who had been cursed by the great sage Kapila. The river Goddess spilled down from Lord Shiva's hair locks as a reaction to his austerities. This occurrence rewarded King Sagara's sixty thousand sons. Devotees and pilgrims pray for the salvation of their ancestors in the holy water of Ganga, following in the footsteps of Bhagirath.

In the evening, you will be taken to Har ki Pauri to attend a Ganga Aarti on the banks of the river. Witness the stunning sight of hundreds of clay lanterns floating on the river's surface. Return to the hotel after the ceremony.

However, horses and palki services are provided to make the walk more bearable.

Take a soak in the Jamunabai Kund, a natural hot spring with therapeutic benefits, before visiting the temple for devotion. Surya Kund is the most well-known of the temple's several hot-water springs. Pilgrims perform an intriguing rite in which they wrap rice in a towel and dip it in water, which cooks it and devotees consume it as prasad, or divine blessings.

Before approaching the Yamunotri shrine, pay your respects to the Divya Shila, a rock pillar. Maharani Gularia of Jaipur established this famed temple in the 19th century. The temple has been demolished and rebuilt twice throughout the years, but it still retains its original splendour.
