According to tradition, the temple represents the location where Lord Shiva ingested poison that came from Samudra, causing his throat to turn blue and earning the Lord the moniker Neelkanth. Following that, pay a visit to Bharat Mandir. Founded in the 12th century by Adiguru Shankaracharya, the shrine has Lord Vishnu carved out of a single piece of Saligram, while the inner canopy of the temple shelters the precious Shree Yanthra.

Return to Mussoorie later. Discover the hill town's colonial attractions. Visit the British-era buildings and browse for souvenirs at the market.
